About The Position

The RN - Ortho/Neuro position is a full-time day shift role at Piedmont Eastside in Snellville, GA, on a 17-bed hybrid unit specializing in acute CVA's and TIA's, along with post-operative care for knee, hip, and spinal surgery patients. The unit also manages general medical/surgical patients. The role involves providing nursing care across the patient lifecycle, utilizing nursing processes, and adhering to organizational policies. Key aspects include bedside report, purposeful rounding, quality initiatives (pain assessment, pressure ulcer prevention, infection prevention), a unit educator, a charge nurse with limited patient load, EPIC electronic health record, virtual nurses for admissions/discharges, and participation in Nurse Extern, Residency, and CAP programs.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure
  • Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License.
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support
  • No experience required (New Graduates of a nursing program eligible)

Nice To Haves

  • Acute Care, Hospital experience highly preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting
  • 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions
  • Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient assessments, including collection of data regarding the patient’s physical, psychosocial, and health history.
  • Evaluates the developmental age of the patient when performing assessments, treatments, and patient/family education.
  • Organizes patient data to formulate a plan of care, identifies additional information needed, and makes care decisions based on identified needs. Identifies expected patient outcomes.
  • Carries out the plan of care to achieve desired patient outcomes.
  • Provides patient care specific to the setting, identified needs, and plan, ensuring appropriateness to the severity of the disease, condition, impairment, or disability.
  • Oversees activities of ancillary and support team members.
  • Identifies teaching opportunities and provides necessary resources for achieving patient educational goals.
  • Communicates issues/concerns to the Charge Nurse, Clinical Manager, and/or physician as appropriate.
  • Documents patient care and concerns in the patient record.
