As a nurse at Pomerene Hospital, you will be responsible for upholding the hospital's mission, role, and values both within the organization and in the community. Pomerene nurses are expected to demonstrate support for the hospital's mission, vision, values, and strategic plan in a team-oriented setting. All job duties must be performed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards set by accrediting agencies and professional organizations. Professionalism, including appearance and behavior, must be maintained throughout employment. The Registered Nurse assigned to the Med/Surg Unit will possess the knowledge and skills to provide safe, timely, effective, quality, age-appropriate, culture-appropriate, cost-conscious, and evidence-based care using the nursing process and a holistic approach. The RN will assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise patient care on an individual basis, adhering to organizational policies and procedures. Nurses will provide clinical leadership for patient care and may be assigned to other nursing units based on patient census and staffing needs, within the scope of their qualifications.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing - Required
  • Valid State of Ohio RN Licensure - Required
  • BLS, ACLS and NIHSS Certifications - Required (May obtain during the orientation period).

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 Years Experience as a RN - Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process and holistic patient care.
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise patient care on an individualized basis, according to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Provide clinical leadership for patient care.
  • May be assigned to work on other nursing units based on patient census and staffing needs.
  • Move throughout the facility as needed.
  • Appropriately assist in emergency drills and situations.
  • Demonstrate the physical, clinical, and professional capacity to provide direct patient care.
  • Coordinate patient care as assigned, including assessing and interpreting patient care information and data.
  • Provide appropriate patient and family education.
  • Work cooperatively with unit staff, physicians, and ancillary departments.
  • Maintain high standards for professional nursing practice.
  • Perform all tasks and duties according to hospital and department policy and procedure.

  • Actively support and encourage Primary Support Person (PSP) / Family involvement in patient's care, with consent of patient.
  • Include PSP / family members in discussions of nursing plan of care, medications, consultations with physicians, and discharge instructions.
  • Encourage PSP / family member presence at the patient's bedside and participation in the patient's care.
