About The Position

CHI Health St. Elizabeth is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Medical Surgical Oncology unit. This 42-bed unit cares for a diverse patient population with diagnoses including Orthopedic, Trauma, Spine and Neuro surgery, Surgical and Medical Oncology, pulmonary, renal, GI, and cardiac care. The unit has a rapidly growing oncology program and is committed to providing highly skilled care using ONS curriculum and standards of practice. They also provide post-surgical care with a focus on pain management, early mobilization, and patient and family-centered education to promote excellent outcomes. The care model emphasizes multidisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietary, Nutrition, Palliative Care, and innovative nursing models with LPN, C.N.A, and RN teams.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license that allows you to practice in our state
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Registered Nurse preferred
  • Specialty certification (ex: PCCN, CCRN, CNOR, CEN) preferred
  • Additional certification or licensure may be required for some specialty areas

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort
  • Anticipates, identifies, and responds to informational and emotional needs of patients and families
  • Guides and directs healthcare personnel (i.e., CNAs) in caring for patients
  • Maintains knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use (i.e., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, and drainage devices)
  • Utilizes safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms with necessary
  • Initiates emergency support measures (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patient from injury)
  • Assists with patient care duties/tasks (i.e., emptying drainage devices, ambulating, and hygiene)
