About The Position

This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care of patients. The position promotes continuity of care, provides direct patient care, and supervises licensed practical nurses, certified nurses assistants, patient care aides, and other support staff. The nurse must demonstrate knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan and assess patient status based on age-specific needs. Responsibilities include providing care according to department policies, participating in patient and family teaching, and maintaining professional nursing standards. The role supports the hospital and nursing department's mission and philosophy, promoting a positive image of professional nursing and OMC. The position involves patient contact in various circumstances and may require handling emergency situations. Occasional irregular hours may be expected.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required.
  • Current Washington State RN license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • PALS certification required within 1 year of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Two years experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing care of patients within the facility.
  • Promotes continuity of care for patients on the unit.
  • Provides direct patient care.
  • Supervises the care given by Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nurses Assistants, Patient Care Aides and other support staff.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflecting the patient’s status.
  • Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements concerning his or her age-specific needs.
  • Provides the care needed as described in the department/unit policies and procedures.
  • Participates in patient and family teaching.
  • Maintains standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.
  • Demonstrates the values contained in the Hospital and Nursing Department mission and philosophy statements.
  • Supports and promotes a positive image of professional nursing and OMC.
  • Has contact with patients under a variety of circumstances and is subject to varying and unpredictable situations.
  • May perform emergency care and handle emergency or crisis situations.
