About The Position

The Short Stay Unit provides diagnostic and therapeutic specialty health care services to adult age patients. Hours of operation are from 5:00am to the completion of the patient schedule, six days a week. Sunday hours are limited to recurrent patients needing to be seen to maintain their plan of care. Operational hours may be extended at any time to meet patient needs. The typical patient populations cared for in the Short Stay Unit includes: Patients undergoing invasive diagnostic and interventional radiological procedures such as: angiogram, myleogram, diagnostic procedures done under fluoroscopy, and needle localization/biopsy. Pre and post procedure care needs include but are not limited to the following: patient/family education, oral/IV medication administration, routine nursing care, measurement of vital signs, and nursing assessment specific to individualized patient care needs and physician orders. Patients treated for chronic medical conditions that require recurrent or ongoing treatment regimens including oral/IV medication administration, blood product administration, monitoring of laboratory values, and periodic nursing assessment specific to individualized patient care needs and physician orders. Patients who require non-complex, time limited visits for nursing intervention and assessment, endocrine testing, and medication administration. Our hospital offers the service lines of a city hospital, inclusive of trauma, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery, interventional cardiology, obstetrics and psychiatry, while also building relationships across the organization in a community setting. GENERAL OVERVIEW: The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families for whom the nurse is responsible. The Registered Nurse is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed nurse and is accountable to patients for the quality of care delivered.
