About The Position

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for the provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. The Mercy Joplin MedSurg Service Line is made up of several specialty units that will provide experience with patient populations with a varying range of diagnoses and care needs. Functionally, these units house and care for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. Whether you are a new grad nurse looking to build a strong base before launching into your future career/educational plans or an experienced nurse who enjoys variety in their everyday work, Med Surg is the place for you! Our Renal/Oncology Unit is a 21-private bed unit that offers a diverse mix of general medical, renal and oncology patients. Our Nurses work on a support team of educators, PCA/PCT's, Case Managers, Respiratory Therapists, Dieticians, PT/OT and Speech Therapists. You will have the opportunity to receive certification in both peritoneal dialysis and chemotherapy. Day and Night Shifts Available! Great stepping stone into our ICU and ED units.

Requirements

  • Nursing Degree from an accredited school
  • Current RN license in our state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association
