About The Position

The RN Medical ICU position is based in a 24-bed unit on the eighth floor of the Meijer Heart Center at Butterworth Hospital. The unit cares for critically ill, medically complex patients, including patients with diabetes or ketoacidosis, mechanically ventilated patients, critically ill bone marrow transplant patients, and patients with sepsis or pneumonia. The unit is a newly renovated space created to meet the growing need for intensive care beds in West Michigan.

Under the ANA scope of practice, the RN uses the nursing process to provide professional nursing care and patient- and family-centered care. The RN works under the direction of the Nurse Leader and follows Corewell Health policies and procedures. The role includes partnering with patients and families, using their input and goals in care planning, developing teaching strategies, documenting education and learning in the health record, and recognizing how nursing care and patient/family partnerships affect outcomes.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within five years.
• Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS), required within 90 days.
• AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), required within six months.

Nice To Haves

• Six or more months of RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge patients using the nursing process.
• Provide professional nursing care incorporating patient- and family-centered care principles.
• Provide quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader and according to Corewell Health policies and procedures.
