Union Hospital’s 6100 Medical Floor provides care to patients ages 18 and above with chronic illnesses, such as COPD, CHF, and diabetes, and post-op patients who have had a knee replacement, shoulder surgery, hip replacement, colostomies, and exploratory laps. This unit has caregivers ranging from new graduates to 30+ years of experience, and they all work collaboratively to provide the best possible care to their patients. As an RN on this unit, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. Here, you will have the opportunity to advance your nursing skills each day and climb the clinical ladder. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering your education, committee participation and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills even further. A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00PM – 7:30AM, including rotating weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and their families.
