This is a part-time Day shift position for an RN in the Med Surg unit at Atrium Health Union. The role involves engaging in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices. The nurse will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families throughout the continuum of care. Responsibilities include monitoring patient conditions, adjusting care plans, mobilizing resources, collaborating with the care team, and upholding a culture of safety. The position requires continuous evaluation of patient, team, and unit outcomes, safe administration of medications and treatments, effective communication, and pursuit of professional development. Ethical decision-making, respect for interdisciplinary roles, and appropriate delegation are also key aspects of the role. Accurate and timely EHR documentation is required. The nurse may be required to float to other units or facilities to meet patient care needs and must demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care. The role also involves physical requirements such as sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, reaching, and twisting, as well as the ability to lift and support weight, push/pull, and perform sliding transfers. Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch are necessary, along with fine hand manipulation skills. The nurse must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions, and physical abilities testing may be required.
