About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking Registered Nurses for the Medical Telemetry Unit at Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, Texas. The 38-bed unit provides direct, individualized care to a varied medical and telemetry population and offers learning opportunities across a full spectrum of diagnoses and comorbidities. The hospital is a 636-bed specialty care teaching hospital and the only Level 1 Trauma Center between Dallas and Austin.

This is a full-time position for 36 hours per week on the day shift, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The unit highlights an engaged team, supportive management, a Unit Based Council, flexible scheduling, and an emphasis on work/life balance.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited program.
• Nursing as the specialized field of study.
• Current RN license.
• BLS certification, or obtain certification within 30 days of starting in the role.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and individualized care to patients in the Medical Telemetry Unit.
• Care for patients with medical and telemetry conditions, including sepsis, pulmonary conditions or respiratory distress, chest pain, infections, GI and genitourinary abnormalities, and patients requiring cardiac monitoring.
• Care for patients requiring isolation, including in negative airflow rooms, and patients requiring skin and wound care, including wound vacs.
• Care for patients undergoing or requiring procedures and interventions such as scopes, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, central line placement, paracentesis, angio-cath, pacemaker insertions, and chest tubes.
• Provide enteral feeding tube insertion and maintenance and tracheostomy care.
