About The Position

The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, directs, implements, and assists to provide quality patient care for assigned patients. This role involves planning, assessing, directing, implementing, and providing quality patient care for assigned patients, including modifying nursing care, medication administration, and discharge planning. The nurse will provide education tailored to individual patient needs using the nursing process and in coordination with policies and procedures. Responsibilities include monitoring changes in patient condition, recording and reporting symptoms, assessing vital signs, and intervening when appropriate. The role also entails performing complete data collection from patient presenting complaints and pertinent history, collaborating with patients to identify treatment plan goals, and discharging patients with a written discharge plan. Encouraging family participation as appropriate for age and situation is also key. The nurse will deliver nursing care, including assessment and planning of education for identified knowledge deficits, treatment, pain management, and discharge, utilizing the nursing process. Accurate documentation in medical records, on forms, and in the computer, including entering appropriate orders, patient charges, and other information, meeting all standards, policies, and procedures, is required. Delivering quality care through multi-disciplinary team strategies and minimizing the risk of infection, harm, or injury is essential. Maintaining accurate detailed reports and records, and directing care with regard to age and developmental stage, presenting complaint, and pertinent history are also part of the role. The position requires working at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments, staff, patients, and visitors. Anticipating deteriorating life sign patterns or equipment malfunctions and taking appropriate action is necessary. Modifying patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions, and collaborating with patient care team members on patient care plans, incorporating consistent use of hand-off communication, are also key duties. Conducting and coordinating patient care and patient transfers in accordance with EMTALA regulations, as applicable, is required. Additional department-specific functions as outlined in department procedures will be performed. Requirements

Nursing Diploma from an Accredited Diploma Program or Associate or higher Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Current licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas or proof of reciprocity of licensure between the State of Texas and another state within 90 days.
4881 RN I: 6 months -1.99 years of relevant experience.
4882 RN II: 2-4.99 years of relevant experience.
4883 RN III: 5-9.99 years of relevant experience.
4884 RN IV: 10+ years of relevant experience.
Current JPS recognized BLS certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
Completion of unit specific competency based orientation program within 90 days.
Successful completion of EKG and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire, if working on a monitored unit and maintained throughout employment.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Certification in the area of nurse specialty.
