About The Position

The RN Med Surg Renal works on 8N, a 28-bed medical-surgical unit focused on renal care. Patients may have acute or chronic renal failure requiring hemodialysis or Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis. The unit includes eight telemetry-monitored beds for renal patients with cardiac complications and offers opportunities to collaborate with nephrologists, social workers, case managers, and dieticians.

Under the ANA scope of practice and the direction of the Nurse Leader, the RN uses the nursing process to provide professional, quality care in accordance with Corewell Health policies and procedures. The RN incorporates patient- and family-centered care principles; assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and supports discharge; partners with patients and families in care planning; develops teaching strategies; and documents education and learning in the health record.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Nursing.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within five years.
• Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire.
• Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience, or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role, and must have passed the NCLEX licensure examination.

Nice To Haves

• Specialty certification is highly recommended within two years.

Responsibilities
