About The Position

The Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med-Surg RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a wide range of medical conditions, surgical procedures, and chronic illnesses. The Med-Surg RN is responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing care plans, administering medications, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.

  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • HIPAA compliant
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care according to nursing standards and hospital policies
  • Monitor patient conditions, vital signs, and responses to treatment
  • Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and treatments as prescribed
  • Perform wound care, catheter care, and post-operative monitoring
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, procedures, and discharge instructions
  • Coordinate care with physicians, case managers, physical therapy, and other healthcare professionals
  • Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical record
  • Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions
  • Maintain patient safety, infection control, and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Serve as a patient advocate and provide emotional support to patients and families
