About The Position

This position is for a 36-hour per week RN on the Med/Surg- Neuro unit at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA. The unit is a 36-bed Medical Surgical unit specializing in Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Level 2 Trauma. It also provides Telemetry monitoring for up to 26 patients and serves patients undergoing Vascular surgery, Thoracic, and General Surgery. The role involves coordinating total nursing care, patient and family teaching, and collaborating with ancillary and patient team personnel to maintain professional nursing practice standards. The position is suitable for new-to-practice nurses.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or equivalent is required.
Current RN Licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is also required.
Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired.

Nice To Haves

Three (3) months experience is preferred.
Stepdown training within 12 weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

Coordinate total nursing care for patients.
Participate in patient and family teaching.
Provide leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice within an assigned patient care unit.
Provide care that is appropriate to the age group of patients regularly served.
