About The Position

This position oversees the entire Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process, focusing on care delivery, resident outcomes, reimbursement, and quality assurance. The role ensures accurate and timely completion of assessments, Care Area Assessments (CAAs), and Care Plans. The RN MDS Coordinator reports to the Administrator and plays a key role in maintaining quality standards and regulatory compliance within the facility.

Requirements

Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) or licensed in a compact state Upon Hire
BLS/CPR/AED - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) within 30 Days

Responsibilities

Report status of Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments to the Administrator weekly.
Ensure timely scheduling and completion of MDS assessments per regulatory requirements.
Utilize auditing tools to manage RUG, ADL score, 5 Star, QRP, and QM trends.
Communicate with Accounts Receivable analyst regarding Prospective Payment System (PPS) assessments ready for billing.
Complete the required percentage of MDS from the previous month by the monthly deadline for timely billing.
Participate in meetings and training events provided by the Quality/Reimbursement team.
Provide in-house training for direct care staff to ensure accurate documentation of care provision.
Participate in monthly facility Quality Assurance (QA) meetings, focusing on QM/5 Star/QRP.
Serve as a resource to the QA team for developing QAPI plans related to QM/5 Star reports.
Collaborate with nursing administration, providers, and rehab to determine the best course of action for quality care and appropriate implementation of the plan of care.
