About The Position

Central Maine Healthcare (CMH) is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving approximately 400,000 residents across central, western, and midcoast Maine. The system includes Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC), Bridgton Hospital, and Rumford Hospital. CMH is also home to the Maine College of Health Professions. The Employee Health Manager is responsible for managing the employee health service functions in the facility. This role coordinates employee annual physical examinations, new hire physical clearances, and worker’s compensation issues. The manager provides emergency evaluation for work-related injuries, ensures cost-effective coordination of treatment, referral to preferred providers, and collaborates with management in developing objectives for employee health services. The role also involves performing safety rounds to ensure adherence to safety practices, assisting with policy and procedure development, and acting as an education consultant on infection control/prevention, workers compensation, and other employee health matters. The manager responds to potential exposures by communicating with relevant parties and regulatory agencies.

Requirements

  • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA).
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in an acute care setting.
  • Graduate from an accredited school with a degree in nursing, epidemiology, microbiology, public health or other life science related field.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year experience in infection control or employee health preferred.
  • Previous experience in employee health, infection control or occupational health strongly preferred.
  • Masters Degree Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the employee health service functions in the facility.
  • Coordinating employee annual physical examinations, new hire physical clearances, and worker’s compensation issues.
  • Providing emergency evaluation for work-related injuries.
  • Assuring cost-effective coordination of treatment and referral to preferred providers.
  • Collaborating with management in development of objectives for employee health services.
  • Documenting accurately and maintaining required confidential employee and administrative records.
  • Performing safety rounds to ensure safety practices are adhered to within all hospital departments.
  • Assisting with policy and procedure development and implementation while maintaining regulatory agency directives.
  • Acting as a primary education consultant to hospital employees, physicians, patients and visitors in safe Infection Control/Prevention practices, workers compensation, and other employee health related matters.
  • Responding to potential exposures by communicating with employees, patients, physicians, and regulatory agencies.
