The primary purpose of this job position is to provide direct care to residents and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. This supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and facility policies, and as may be required by the Director of Nursing Services, to ensure the highest degree of quality of care is maintained at all times. The LPN/RN is required to have a current license to practice in the state of Minnesota and current CPR certification. Experience in Gerontological nursing is preferred. Must possess excellent clinical skills and understanding of the nursing process to monitor the nursing care delivered by the T.M.A. and C.N.A. Must also have the ability to create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position relating to and working with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
