About The Position

MercyOne Centerville Medical Center is a 25-bed critical-access hospital providing emergency/trauma stabilization, acute and skilled care, including cancer, heart and vascular, neurology, pediatrics, primary care, surgery, therapy, and rehab services. The center emphasizes personalized rural community health care. The Registered Nurse assumes responsibility and accountability for assigned patients, providing nursing services to ensure resident safety and to help residents attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being, as determined by resident assessment and the implementation of a plan of care.

Requirements

• Current RN license in State of Iowa.
• Current basic Life Support for Healthcare providers from American Heart Association.
• Dependent Adult Mandatory reporter training 30 days upon hire and recertification every 5 years.
• Obtains education required for license renewal.
• Works to promote a positive atmosphere in LTC.

Responsibilities

• Utilize nursing process which includes patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning of nursing care, implementing interventions, and evaluation of patient status.
• Execute regimen prescribed by physician within guidelines of nursing practice.
• Perform and/or supervise activities/functions which require knowledge and skill level currently ascribed to the licensed practical nurse and registered nurse, and seek assistance when these are beyond scope of preparation.
• Provide leadership and direction in the supervision of others in carrying out the nursing process.
• Provide direct care to the residents (feeding, bathing, dressing, ambulation, stock supply room, pass water, linens, etc.).
• Communicate changes in resident’s condition to appropriate members of the health care team.
• Follow universal precautions for infection control.
• Correctly use mechanical devices for moving, lifting, and transferring residents to promote safety.
