About The Position

The RN applies nursing process and theories, as well as principles of psycho-social and physical sciences, in assessing, planning, diagnosing, implementing, evaluating, and modifying patient care utilizing evidence-based practices. The RN practice autonomously within professional nursing standards, the ANA Code of Ethics and the ANA Bill of Rights. The RN strives for quality outcomes and innovative practice in accordance with the Florida Nursing Practice Act and the Hospital/departmental policies. The RN ensures practice is in accordance with competency required for that area. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self (or others who are under RN’s direction). This is done through participation in quality assurance or performance improvement initiatives. The RN provides care in a collaborative manner with other disciplines to ensure optimal, individualized patient care and outcomes. In managing patient care the RN will take a leadership role coordinating the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with other health team members to enhance patient outcomes. The RN has a responsibility to act as educator to their peers, patients, and their families. All aspects of the RN performance support service excellence and a healing environment. The RN identifies and communicates needed unit resources or equipment to be included in budget. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Florida
  • Two (2) current years of Labor & Delivery experience.
  • BLS from American Heart Association, for healthcare providers
  • ACLS and NRP Certification from American Heart Association
  • Fetal monitoring education to be completed every 2 years.
  • Grip a dynamometer for 10 seconds with a force > 25lbs.
  • Pinch together the thumb & forefinger for 10 seconds with a force > 5 lbs.
  • Rotate wrist from left to right while holding 10 lb. weight.
  • Fully flex and extend elbow while holding a 10 lb. weight.
  • Sustain shoulder flexion > 135 degrees for 10 seconds while holding 10 lb. weight.
  • Sustain a shoulder shrug for 10 seconds while holding 10 lb. weight in each hand.
  • Squat and hold position for 30 seconds.
  • Kneel on a single knee, demonstrated on both left and right knee.
  • Push a stationary loaded cart with a pushing force of 40 lbs.
  • Pull a stationary loaded cart with a pulling force of 40 lbs.
  • Carry a 30 lb. weight for a distance of 25 feet.
  • Lifting Floor to Table/Table to Floor (35lbs. Female - 50lbs. Male requirement)
  • Table to above shoulder height (20 lbs. requirement)
  • Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation
  • TB/PPD Surveillance Program
  • Maintenance of required professional licensing and/or certification(s).

Nice To Haves

  • BSN OR completed within 3 years of start date preferred.
  • National Certification in Specialty preferred
