Our Labor and Delivery unit is located at Butterworth hospital. We deliver the most babies of any hospital in Michigan with an average of 8,000 births a year. The unit consists of 28 private birthing suites, 11-bed triage, 3 OR suites, and 5 recovery bays. Our staff consist of RN, Anesthesia RNs, Nurse Techs, OB Techs and Unit Secretaries. Butterworth Hospital, located in the heart of Grand Rapids, is a nationally recognized hospital for patient quality and safety and the regional leader in full-service hospitals. Since 1873, we have been growing and building a reputation of excellence in care, diagnostics, treatment, prevention and education. It is the flagship hospital for Corewell Health Grand Rapids Hospitals. The scope of work involves delivering nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. This includes demonstrating competency through the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) and upholding the standards of professional performance (ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health) to achieve optimal outcomes.
