About The Position

Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for a Labor & Delivery / OB unit in Ottumwa, Iowa. This is a full-time position with 12-hour shifts, rotating every third weekend and major holidays. The unit is a 10-bed facility with a 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, providing care to obstetric patients. Pediatric coverage is provided by a Board Certified provider. The role involves performing patient assessments, initiating nursing interventions, providing age-appropriate care, completing medical necessity documentation, maintaining care plans, and performing quality improvement assessments within an acute care Labor & Delivery setting focused on obstetric and newborn care.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program REQUIRED
• Current Iowa RN license or compact license REQUIRED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) REQUIRED
• Advanced Cardiopulmonary Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hire REQUIRED
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire REQUIRED
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 6 months of hire REQUIRED
• Recent RN experience REQUIRED

Nice To Haves

• 2–3 years Labor & Delivery experience preferred
• 1 year Med/Surg or Critical Care experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and identify care needs
• Initiate appropriate nursing interventions
• Provide care appropriate to patient condition and age
• Complete documentation related to medical necessity in the medical record
• Maintain and revise interdisciplinary care plans
• Perform quality improvement assessments
