The Intermediate Care Unit is a 24-bed unit with all private rooms equipped with telemetry monitoring. It admits patients aged 15 through end of life, treating a wide range of diagnoses including heart failure, respiratory illness, renal failure, and post-heart catheterization patients. ACLS certification is required within 6 months of employment. Nurses on this unit care for overflow medical/surgical/traumatic conditions with low to mild probability for complications/instability, requiring non-invasive assessment/interventions every two to eight hours, as well as hospice and end-of-life care. Corewell Health Trenton Hospital is a 193-bed, acute care teaching hospital with nine university-affiliated residency programs and Magnet® designation. It is recognized for its Level II trauma center, nationally recognized heart, vascular, and pulmonary specialties, minimally invasive robotic surgery, orthopedic and neurosurgery services, and comprehensive women’s health services. The clinical nurse utilizes the nursing process and patient-family centered care principles to provide quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader, adhering to Corewell Health policies and procedures.
