About The Position

This is a 60% FTE position with a 12-hour day/evening shift, working every Saturday and Sunday. Hours may vary based on operational needs. The role is located at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, WI. The Registered Nurse (RN) - PICU / CVPICU will join a highly skilled and committed multidisciplinary team, providing family-centered care to critically ill or injured children and their families in a state-of-the-art 21-bed unit. Responsibilities include providing comprehensive care for patients with a wide variety of medical and surgical problems, such as acute head injuries, critical neurological disorders, pulmonary diseases, cardiac anomalies, organ transplantation, multi-system organ failure, and ECMO. The role also involves providing high-quality care to complex cardiac conditions, including congenital heart defects, Ventricular Assisted Devices, and heart transplant.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification Upon Hire
  • Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health’s Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Inpatient Units and Central Float (Adult & Pediatric), Venous Access Team (VAT), Radiology, Hemodialysis, Cardiovascular Laboratory experience
  • Relevant RN experience
  • Relevant certification
