About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse (RN) on the Sanford Psychiatric Inpatient Unit, a 20-bed unit serving adult patients with psychiatric illness. Patients are cared for by an interdisciplinary team. The unit provides acute care and facilitates ongoing community treatment, and also includes a partial hospitalization program. The unit has high employee satisfaction scores, is nationally recognized for its performance improvement project, and fosters a positive workplace environment with a strong sense of "workplace family".

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited nursing program required, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
Must have psych or related clinical experience.
North Dakota RN License required at time of hire.

Responsibilities

Utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to patients.
Collaborating with other inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care.
Demonstrating competency and practicing within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizing appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting.
Caring for patients in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up as patients move along the continuum of care.
Planning and coordination of care, patient assessment, patient education, triage, and various other nursing interventions.
Functioning within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of practice and licensure.
Adhering to the American Nurses Association's Scope and Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as the foundation of nursing care delivery and professional conduct.
