About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. The Endoscopy department specializes in gastroenterological and pulmonary diseases, performing diagnostic and screening procedures. The Broadway Hospital Endoscopy Lab focuses on GI and Pulmonary procedures, while Endoscopy at SMCF handles specialty GI cases. The department has 10 procedure rooms and 12 prep/recovery bays, handling approximately 60 cases daily and 1300 cases monthly. A GI on-call 24/7 team provides support for inpatient emergent and non-emergent cases. The role involves 10-hour day shifts, one late stay per week, and call every 5th or 6th weekend, with one holiday coverage per year. Highlights include a $10,000 sign-on bonus, typical nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 to 1:3, opportunities for GI certification, training in four different areas (Admissions, Sedation/Circulation, Recovery, and Tech role), development of expertise in various diagnostic procedures, and career ladders for personal growth.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program required, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
  • Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to patients.
  • Collaborating with other inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care.
  • Demonstrating competency and practicing within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizing appropriate age and population specific standards.
  • Caring for patients in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
  • Planning and coordinating care, patient assessment, patient education, triage, and various other nursing interventions.
  • Functioning within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of practice and licensure.
  • Assisting while in-procedure (Tech role).
