This role involves performing the primary functions of a registered nurse, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of all assigned patients. The nurse supports patient care, addresses patient and family needs, and collaborates with interprofessional team members and other departments to resolve issues and establish treatment plans. Key responsibilities include individualizing and updating care plans, providing patient education on vascular access, performing intravenous insertion and assessment (including peripheral and central line access), and utilizing equipment such as point of care ultrasound and infusion pumps. The position requires proper interpretation of department policies and laboratory results for safe patient management, monitoring and recording patient care, communicating patient conditions, and taking appropriate actions for unanticipated changes. The nurse will utilize the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and apply evidence-based practice to ensure nursing care meets age-specific and clinical needs, while maintaining a constant state of alertness and safety.
