About The Position

Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare (TMH) is a private, nonprofit community-based healthcare system that provides care to a 22-county region in North Florida and South Georgia. Requirements

  • Associate degree in nursing
  • Five (5) years job related experience
  • Licensed as a registered nurse (RN) in accordance with Florida Statutes (FS), Title XXXII (Regulation of Professions and Occupations), Chapter 464 (Nursing), Part I (Nurse Practice Act) [includes multistate compact licensure]

  • Human Resources (HR) may accept post-associate degree nursing education in lieu of required experience on a 1-year: 1-year basis.
  • Three (3) years of perinatal nursing experience (e.g., labor and delivery (L&D), obstetric O.R., postpartum/mother-baby, antenatal care, and/or outpatient/triage experience).
  • Quality improvement (e.g., Lean) experience.
  • Data entry experience.
  • Experience abstracting reports from web-based programs related to core measures/care standards.
  • Specialty area certification.
  • Knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC) maternal care standards, Association of Women's Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) care standards, Baby-Friendly designation requirements, and Safe Sleep certification requirements.
  • Project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and collaborates with the RN/Dir/Perinatal Services-Ops, RN/Nurse Manager, RN/Registrar/Data Analysts, and other colleagues in activities to evaluate performance and safety, promote communication among the Perinatal Services (i.e., Labor and Delivery/Antenatal [including the Operating Room/Post Anesthesia Care Unit (O.R./PACU) and Obstetrics (OB) Triage] and Family Care Unit) team members, and improve clinical outcomes.
  • Organizes and reports federal and state regulatory and accrediting performance improvement (PI) and patient safety standards for the Perinatal Services departments accurately to Perinatal Services nursing leadership via documentation and practice audits, patient interviews, and various report reviews.
  • Works closely with RN/Registrar/Data Analysts to ensure accurate, concurrent data is collected and PI opportunities are identified.
  • Ensures all patients having procedures performed within Perinatal Services units are charged accurately and timely.
  • Utilizes Lawson, Charge Master, Cerner preference cards, and an implant log; meets implant tracking regulatory requirements.
  • Works in partnership with the RN/Dir/Perinatal Services-Ops, RN/Nurse Manager, Finance, and Charge Capture to ensure Charge Master is accurate and up-to-date, and that Perinatal Services’ hospital strategic revenue goals are met.
  • Develops educational materials for Perinatal Services clinical staff members regarding the appropriate documentation driving charge capture.
  • Supports the RN/Nurse Manager, RN/Assistant Nurse Managers, and RN/Clinical Education Coords with communications to staff members.
  • Monitors and evaluates Perinatal Service’s programs.
