Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program, upon hire
  • Registered Nurse: CA, upon hire
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 30 Days
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support, within 30 Days
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support, within 30 Days
  • Nursing Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation of Patient Care
  • Satisfied CBO/Annual, Competency Valuation, Program Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Completes a thorough pre-operative assessment on all assigned patients.
  • Makes sure all test results, History and Physical and consents are on chart prior to surgery.
  • Performs assessment on pediatric and geriatric patients taking into consideration the physiological and anatomical differences specific to each age group.
  • Identifies any specific consideration that may be necessary related to each age specific group.
  • Observes, identifies and collects data to identify nursing care needs of the patients.
  • Identifies supplies, instruments and equipment needed for the procedure, surgeons preference card, age, and specific needs of patients.
  • Plans for the coordination of support intraoperative period, i.e., x-ray, pathology, etc.
  • Provides quality nursing care based on patient's needs and plan of care.
  • Supervises the care given by Surgical Techs.
