About The Position

The Registered Nurse II in the Emergency Department is responsible for providing direct patient care, assessing patient conditions, and maintaining accurate nursing documentation. This role requires the ability to handle emergency situations promptly and professionally, monitor patient status, and administer medications and IV fluids. The position also involves meeting professional behavior expectations and maintaining required competencies and certifications.

Requirements

  • At least one year Registered Nurse experience within the last 24 months and acute critical experience within the last 12 months or EMT and ED Tech with a minimum of 2 years experience & in good standing.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse by the State of California.
  • Evidence of current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Employee must conform with all HIPAA and other confidentiality regulations as required by the job, department, or hospital.

Nice To Haves

  • MICN desired to be completed within one year of hire.
  • MICN, NRP, TNCC, and CEN encouraged and recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care service appropriate to the age of the patients/individuals served.
  • Demonstrates and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patients/ individuals status and interpret relative to his age-specific needs, and to provide the care/service needed.
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise and professional manner.
  • Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses and assessment of changes.
  • Maintains and meets expectations on time for all competencies, license, certifications and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health (AH), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and all other regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and his or her clinical condition.
  • Meets charge nurse expectations as assigned.
  • Meets professional behavior expectations and guest services expectations.
  • Monitors hemodynamic status of patient and correctly interpret the results.
  • Nursing documentation must reflect comprehensive understanding of the nursing process.
  • Performs head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments per policy. This includes pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations.
  • Prepares, administers, monitors and discontinues IV fluids.
  • Provides a professional environment and professional appearance while on hospital grounds.
  • Willingly performs other duties and innovations as assigned.
