About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse II in the Emergency Department, working a night shift on a full-time basis. The role involves defining the characteristics needed to perform successfully as a Registered Nurse in the MedSurg and ICU Department. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required. This position is represented by RCHEA. The Registered Nurse II in the Emergency Department reports to the Director of Emergency Department. The role requires adherence to Professionalism and Self-Development standards. The nurse will demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served (Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric), assessing data reflective of the patient's status and interpreting it relative to age-specific needs. The nurse must be able to handle emergency situations promptly, precisely, and professionally, maintaining accurate and continued nursing documentation, including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes. They must maintain and meet expectations for all competencies, licenses, certifications, and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health, The Joint Commission, CMS, and other regulatory agencies. The nurse will maintain current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on patient age and clinical condition, and meet charge nurse expectations as assigned. They will also meet professional behavior and guest services expectations, monitor the hemodynamic status of patients and correctly interpret the results, and ensure nursing documentation reflects a comprehensive understanding of the nursing process. The role includes performing head-to-toe assessments and reassessments on all patients (pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations) per policy, preparing, administering, and discontinuing IV fluids, and providing a professional environment and appearance while on hospital grounds. Other duties and innovations as assigned will also be performed.

Requirements

  • At least one year Registered Nurse experience within the last 24 months and acute critical experience within the last 12 months or EMT and ED Tech with a minimum of 2 years experience & in good standing.
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse by the State of California.
  • Evidence of current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification.
  • Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • MICN desired to be completed within one year of hire.
  • MICN, NRP, TNCC, and CEN encouraged and recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care service appropriate to the age of the patients/individuals served.
  • Demonstrates and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patients/ individuals status and interpret relative to his age-specific needs, and to provide the care/service needed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the critical skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patients served in the Intensive Care setting.
  • Able to interpret data about the patients status in order to identify each patients age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle emergency situations in a prompt, precise and professional manner.
  • Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses and assessment of changes.
  • Maintains and meets expectations on time for all competencies, license, certifications and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health (AH), The Joint Commission (TJC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and all other regulatory agencies.
