About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center– McKinney is a Magnet® Recognized Facility, a 191-bed, fully accredited not-for-profit hospital providing a broad spectrum of healthcare services to families in McKinney and the surrounding communities. As part of Baylor Scott & White Health, the largest not-for-profit healthcare system in the state of Texas, the hospital offers personalized care and advanced technology in a beautiful setting with hotel-like amenities and all private rooms. Services include emergency care, heart and vascular services, orthopedics, oncology, primary care, women’s services, and a Level III Neonatal ICU with private suites. The hospital structure can add additional floors, increasing the number of beds to 400 as community growth warrants. Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of ICU RN experience
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Graduated from an Accredited Program in Nursing
  • Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects.
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.
  • Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.
  • Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Medical and Surgical, Trauma, Neuro, Sepsis, Cardiac, Vascular patient populations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical support to different departments (Code Team, Rapid Response Team, Staff Training and Education, Floating)
  • Participate in Diversity and Inclusion projects
  • Engage in Unit Based Employee of the Month, Birthday celebration and more
  • Participate in Unit Practice Council and Clinical Practice Council
  • Perform bedside shift reporting
  • Conduct purposeful rounding
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary rounding
  • Conduct daily shift team huddles and shift reports
