About The Position

This position requires a minimum of 3 years of recent experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Candidates must also have experience in either neuro or cardiovascular (CV) specialties. The role involves working in a Level 1 trauma center with diverse and complex patient cases. The unit is a Surgical ICU - Trauma Neuro Surgery with 32 beds and nurse:patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:1. Common diagnoses include Level 1 trauma, falls, gunshot wounds (GSW), blunt trauma, motor vehicle accidents (MVAs), trauma patients over age 15, exploratory laparotomy (ex-lap), cranial surgeries, specialty neuro-surgery cases, cerebrovascular accidents (CVA), post-thrombolysis (TPA), COVID-19, sepsis, and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS).

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of recent experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
• Experience in either neuro or cardiovascular (CV) specialties.
• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification.
• NIHSS certification.

Responsibilities

• Titrating drips (e.g., Propofol, fentanyl, versed, precedex, morphine, dilaudid, ketamine, rocuronium, levophed, vasopressin, cardene, labetalol, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, insulin).
• Performing charge nurse duties (without patient assignments).
• Interpreting telemetry strips.
• Floating between the Surgical ICU and medical/cardiac ICU settings as needed.
• Floating to telemetry with a 1:3 or 1:4 ratio as needed.
• Managing complex patient situations effectively.
• Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
