About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Plano is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Intensive Care Unit. This role involves overseeing patient care through a professional practice model, including patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating and implementing care plans, and assessing patient responses. The RN will also be responsible for securing patient travel, understanding patient healthcare needs, assisting patients, preventing issues, and delegating tasks according to the Texas Nursing Practice Act and team competencies. The Intensive Care Unit specializes in Adult Mixed Medical/Surgical Intensive Care with a strong Neurological Component, serving as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and providing unique microvascular recovery services for breast cancer reconstruction patients. The department offers a dynamic learning environment with opportunities for professional growth and development, supported by an open-door policy with management.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an Accredited Program
  • Minimum of 2 years ICU RN experience
  • Specialized field of study in nursing
  • RN license
  • BLS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of starting

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting them to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Build therapeutic relationships with patients and families, managing discomfort and maintaining professionalism.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members on healthcare choices, assessing and documenting learning needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and the community to create care plans.
  • Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • Utilize various strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff.
  • Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, and commit to growth.
  • Contribute to peers' development and show commitment to community service.
