About The Position

Provides basic professional nursing care that is safe, effective, and focused on the patient and family. The nurse demonstrates appropriate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care in accordance with nursing care standards. This position is for the 4D Neurology July 2027 cohort, with variable shifts, and requires an Arkansas or Compact State RN license. No nursing experience is required. The role is designated safety sensitive, and current medical marijuana users cannot be hired. Arkansas Children's is a tobacco-free workplace and requires flu vaccination.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college program or technical school, or a nursing diploma from a nationally accredited nursing school program.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arkansas or a Compact State.
• No nursing experience is required.
• Current medical marijuana users are ineligible because the position is designated safety sensitive.
• Flu vaccination is required.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• Certification specific to the patient population.

Responsibilities

• Provide complete, patient- and family-centered care that addresses physical, psychosocial, and educational needs.
• Provide safe and effective nursing care in accordance with policies and procedures, professional practice standards, and applicable state practice acts and regulations.
• Use basic technical and procedural nursing skills, document clinical care accurately, and complete handoffs to support continuity of care.
• Assess patients and provide developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive care, including appropriate diversional, play, or recreational activities.
• Use patient information to identify patient and family needs and desired outcomes, and participate in developing plans of care with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Recognize changes in patient condition, seek assistance, and respond appropriately.
• Participate in assessing patient and family learning needs and developing and delivering individualized education.
• Apply evidence-based nursing practice using available evidence, patient and family preferences and values, and the team's clinical expertise.
• Evaluate personal performance, identify strengths and professional development needs, and support the AC Professional Practice Model.
• Participate in interdisciplinary shared decision-making activities.
• Contribute to improvements in patient care, nursing practice, and the work environment, including feedback on improvement opportunities and evaluation or implementation of equipment, products, and technology.
• Advocate for patients, families, and the AC team to support quality patient care.
• Participate in councils, committees, task forces, hospital initiatives, onboarding, recruitment, and retention activities; may also participate in community health and wellness activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
