Hospice East Bay (HEB) is a community-based program of home care for terminally ill patients. Care is given to patients and families by an interdisciplinary group. Bereavement care is provided to the family for one year after the death. Hospice services are given regardless of ability to pay, making the agency dependent on donations and insurance billing to meet operating expenses. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Hospice Physician or Nurse Practitioner and in conjunction with the interdisciplinary group, the main role of a Registered Nurse (RN) is providing direct nursing care and coordinating related assistance for patients and families in the setting of the Bruns House, an inpatient unit (IPU). The IPU RN functions as Team Leader of the IPU and assigns and coordinates care with Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN), hospice aides, and administrative support team members. The IPU RN Float reports primarily to the Director Bruns House and floats to the home program to perform outpatient admissions and revisits as assigned.
