About The Position

The Associate Administrator (RN House Supervisor) serves as the administrative and clinical leader for the hospital during night shift operations, providing oversight and decision-making authority in the absence of department directors, managers, and senior administrative leadership. This role ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care through effective coordination of hospital resources, patient throughput, staffing support, and operational problem-solving. The House Supervisor serves as a key resource for clinical teams, facilitating patient placement, optimizing patient flow, and responding to emergent situations while maintaining organizational standards, regulatory compliance, and exceptional patient experiences. This position collaborates with nursing leaders, physicians, ancillary departments, and support services to address complex clinical, operational, and service concerns across the hospital.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) required or relevant experience.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
  • Requires 5-7 years of relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical Specialty Professional Certification preferred.
  • House Supervisor or Nursing Leadership experience preferred.
  • Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Critical Care, or other high-acuity patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hospital-wide leadership, operational oversight, and administrative support during nights, weekends, and designated supplemental shifts.
  • Act as the on-site administrative representative in the absence of executive, nursing, and departmental leadership.
  • Facilitate efficient patient throughput, bed management, admissions, transfers, and discharges to optimize patient flow and capacity management.
  • Collaborate with Emergency Department, inpatient units, procedural areas, and transfer centers to expedite patient placement and ensure timely access to care.
  • Serve as a clinical and operational consultant for staff responding to emergencies, critical incidents, unusual circumstances, and complex patient care situations.
  • Support staffing and resource allocation decisions to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery throughout the organization.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental communication and problem resolution while reinforcing organizational policies, procedures, and service standards.
  • Investigate, document, and communicate operational, patient care, and service concerns, escalating issues to appropriate leadership as needed.
  • Promote a culture of patient safety, quality, accountability, and exceptional customer service.
  • Lead or participate in emergency preparedness, disaster response, and hospital incident command activities as required.
