About The Position

The RN House Supervisor PRN at Palo Pinto General Hospital plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the daily operations of nursing services on a per diem basis. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care by coordinating nursing staff activities, managing resources, and addressing any clinical or operational issues that arise during the shift. The House Supervisor acts as a liaison between nursing personnel, physicians, and hospital administration to maintain smooth communication and efficient workflow. They are responsible for monitoring patient care standards, supporting staff in clinical decision-making, and responding promptly to emergencies or unexpected situations. Ultimately, this role is essential in maintaining a safe, effective, and patient-centered environment within the hospital during their assigned shifts.

Requirements

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.
  • Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced certifications such as ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Ability to work flexible hours on a PRN (as-needed) basis.
  • Excellent conflict resolution and team-building skills.
  • Strong clinical judgment and leadership skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with healthcare technology and documentation systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record-preferably Meditech
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards such as The Joint Commission.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate nursing staff activities to ensure optimal patient care and adherence to hospital policies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for nursing personnel, physicians, and other healthcare team members during assigned shifts.
  • Monitor patient care delivery and intervene as necessary to resolve clinical or operational issues promptly.
  • Manage staffing assignments, including shift coverage and resource allocation, to maintain adequate nurse-to-patient ratios.
  • Respond to emergency situations, providing leadership and support to nursing staff and collaborating with other departments as needed.
  • Apprises the Administrator on call of critical situations.
  • Facilitate communication between nursing staff and hospital administration to address concerns and implement improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, hospital protocols, and quality assurance initiatives.
