About The Position

This position is responsible and accountable for total units operations on a 24-hour basis to include fiscal management, staff development, and resource management with the ultimate goal of achieving quality and safe patient care. Requirements

  • Graduate of a state approved school of nursing, associate degree in nursing (required)
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Kentucky.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association.
  • Three years of RN experience, including 2 years of management.
  • Understanding and awareness of policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Clear and analytical thinking.
  • Customer service orientation - responsive, informs constituents of process, pleasant to work with, educates and provides timely, accurate information.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and functions as a change agent – ability to change directions as needed for the good of the department or organization and willingness to champion those changes to others.
  • Professionalism – is able to perform work in a neat, efficient, well-coordinated, well communicated manner with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Excellent conflict management skills.
  • Ability to assist in the development of self and others.
  • Team leadership - ability to work with others, serve others, help others, lead others, mentor others, take directions from others in the interest of moving process and programs forward to the desired outcome.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Able to critically think through complex patient situations, process improvements, evidence-based practice.
  • Able to assist others in developing clinical reasoning skills.
  • Proficient in CERNER.

  • bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Supervises assigned professional, technical, and clerical staff of the department to ensure the quality of work.
  • Manages the workflow of the unit to ensure the delivery of quality patient care.
  • Implements and supports quality improvement activities for the department.
  • Develops staffing patterns and ensures availability of sufficient qualified staff to meet patient care needs.
  • Works to develop and retain highly skilled and well-rounded staff including orienting, training, directing work, evaluating performance and assuring clinical competency.
  • Contributes to the effective management of the department including supplies, equipment, space, technology, policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to the financial viability of the organization including managing productivity and budgeting process.
  • Maintains effective working relationships, communication and collaborative decision making with medical staff, other departments, leaders, staff and others.
  • Assists the organization in maintaining and achieving its goals related to licensure, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  • Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and competence.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely delivery of various reports including staff schedules, labor productivity, IRIS and others as assigned.
  • Participates in community activities on behalf of the organization.
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct.
  • Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
