About The Position

This role utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients. The RN administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws/practice act. The position involves performing assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care, with documentation according to standards of care. The RN develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or clinic policy, including patient and family instruction. Participation in department or unit performance improvement activities, which may include shared governance, is expected. The RN utilizes clinical expertise and guidance to other units and/or departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care. Critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience is essential, with appropriate escalation to the appropriate chain of command. The role involves participation in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions, and peer review process, offering ideas and/or solutions to practice issues. Innovative methods and intuitive skills are used to develop and implement plans of care, and to educate patient-families. Interdisciplinary collaboration is initiated to meet patient/family educational needs. The RN actively participates in mentoring and precepting new partners to the organization and positively influences the professional and organizational environments and shared governance. Engagement in personal development and support for system-entity opportunities for continuous learning and growth, including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines, is also part of the role. Active participation in a minimum of 1 departmental or unit performance improvement activity is required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience required.
  • Licensed as an RN in state of practice.
  • Approved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days.
  • Other certification(s) per unit requirements. For example: ACLS, PALS, PEARS, and NRP.
