About The Position

This position utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients. The RN administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws/practice act. They perform assessments, planning, intervention and evaluation of care, and document according to standards of care. The RN develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or clinic policy including patient and family instruction. They participate in department or unit performance improvement activities, which may include shared governance. The RN utilizes clinical expertise and guidance to other units/departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care. They utilize critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command. The RN participates in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions and peer review process, offering ideas and/or solutions to practice issues. They use innovative methods and intuitive skills to develop and implement plans of care, and provide innovative ways to educate patient/families. The RN initiates interdisciplinary collaboration to meet the patient/family educational needs. They actively participate in mentoring and precepting new partners to the organization and positively influence the professional and organizational environments and shared governance. The RN engages in personal development and supports system-entity opportunities for continuous learning and growth, including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines. The RN must complete 20 Continuing education hours per year (10 of these per year are required for IL licensure) or 20 Education hours for WI. They actively participate in a minimum of 1 departmental or unit performance improvement activity, which may include shared governance.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience required.
  • Licensed as an RN in state of practice.
  • Approved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days.
  • Other certification(s) per unit requirements. For example: ACLS, PALS, PEARS, and NRP.
  • May include color blind test (per department guidelines).
