About The Position

This role involves utilizing the nursing process and collaborating with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients. The RN administers prescribed medications and treatments, performs assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care, and documents according to standards. They develop and execute patient care plans, participate in performance improvement activities, and utilize clinical expertise to support patient care across units. Critical thinking regarding patient safety and experience is essential, with appropriate escalation to the chain of command. The position also involves participating in the professional nursing continuum, unit practice activities, and peer review. The RN offers ideas for practice issues, uses innovative methods for care plans and patient/family education, and initiates interdisciplinary collaboration for educational needs. Mentoring and precepting new partners, positively influencing the professional and organizational environments, and engaging in personal development for continuous learning are also key aspects. This includes developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines and participating in performance improvement activities. Continuing education hours are required annually for licensure.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years RN experience with a certification.
  • Licensed as an RN in state of practice.
  • Approved CPR /BLS certification within 90 days.
  • Other certification(s) per unit requirements (e.g., ACLS, PALS, PEARS, and NRP).
  • Professional Nursing Certification in your specialty or Advanced Degree (ex. Masters).
  • If hired prior to 09/01/2024 may require a Certification Completion Agreement or specific years of applicable experience to qualify per department guidelines.
  • Passing the Driver’s License Check and/or Credit Check (for those positions requiring).
  • Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check.
  • Must be able to follow written/oral instructions.
  • May include color blind test (per department guidelines).

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Professional Nursing Certification in your specialty or Advanced Degree (ex. Masters).

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws/practice act.
  • Performs assessments, planning, intervention and evaluation of care.
  • Documents according to standards of care.
  • Develops, initiates and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or clinic policy including patient and family instruction.
  • Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.
  • Utilizes clinical expertise & guidance to other units/departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care.
  • Utilizes critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command.
  • Participates in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions and peer review process.
  • Offers ideas and/or solutions to practice issues.
  • Uses innovative methods and intuitive skills to develop and implement plans of care.
  • Provides innovative ways to educate patient / families.
  • Initiates interdisciplinary collaboration to meet the patient/family educational needs.
  • Actively participates in mentoring and precepting new partners to the organization.
  • Positively influences the professional and organizational environments and shared governance.
  • Engages in personal development and supports system-entity opportunities for continuous learning and growth including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines.
  • Actively participates in a minimum of 1 departmental or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.
