About The Position
The professional nurse provides patient- and family-centered care by using the nursing process to address each patient’s physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs. The nurse develops individualized plans of care with patients and their designated care partners, respecting their cultural beliefs and values. The role includes partnering with patients and care partners in care planning and education; delivering safe, compassionate, coordinated care; collaborating with nursing and interprofessional teams; using information technology and evidence-based practice; and contributing to quality and safety improvement. The nurse also supports an inclusive environment, pursues professional development, serves as a preceptor when appropriate, and participates in hospital and practice-setting committees.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a specialized diploma.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Licensed Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
- Knowledge of patient- and family-centered practice and the ability to collaborate respectfully in care and care planning.
- Cultural awareness and the ability to connect effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Effective communication skills, including respectful delegation and engaging patients and families in their health care.
- Ability to assess patients and implement treatment plans.
- Knowledge of patient and care-partner education techniques, including explaining conditions, treatments, medications, and recovery steps.
- Knowledge of medication administration and prescriptions for continuing treatment outside the hospital.
- Knowledge of discharge needs and ability to collaborate on discharge plans and follow-up care.
- Knowledge of patient assessment and nursing diagnosis or clinical judgment.
- Knowledge of health information documentation and ability to record relevant clinical information in written or electronic form.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN), or completion of a BSN or appropriate advanced degree within three years of hire, strongly preferred.
- One year of previous RN experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
Responsibilities

- Monitor care outcomes using data and apply improvement methods to enhance the quality and safety of patient care.
- Work effectively within nursing and interprofessional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making.
- Provide safe, compassionate, coordinated care that respects patients’ preferences, priorities, needs, and cultural beliefs and values.
- Create an inclusive environment and demonstrate problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Pursue continued professional growth and serve as a primary preceptor for appropriate staff members.
- Participate in hospital- and practice-setting committees, including safety and quality improvement committees.
- Give and receive feedback and incorporate appropriate changes into practice.
