About The Position

The basic purpose of nursing is to provide safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. Additionally, nursing will provide professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing care. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times. The Standards of Practice set forth by the professional nursing associations will provide guidelines for the competent, safe and professional practice. Under the direct supervision of the surgeon, provides the surgical team with assistance within the Operating Room and other similar settings. Through this skill development, attains proficiency in assisting the surgeon with specific intraoperative procedures that are beyond the scope of practice for registered nurses without RNFA education and training. Applies knowledge, skill and judgement necessary to assist the surgeon in performing a safe operation that yields optimal results for the patient. Functions within the state laws regarding surgical assisting and state nursing practice act. The RNFA does not concurrently function as the Scrub Nurse.

Requirements

  • Current Texas nursing license or compact license.
  • One year full time experience in an acute care setting.
  • RQI BLS and ACLS required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider course according to RQI program guidelines and all required Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Healthcare Provider courses will be provided during new hire orientation or upon transfer and must be completed prior to working in a clinical setting.
  • Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s) required by the facility.
  • Must be able to identify and competently address the needs of the populations served.
