About The Position

Provides direct patient care in cardiac ICU which may include transplant patients in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization. This fellowship is for experienced acute care RNs who are ready and interested in expanding or pivoting their career into CVICU. The program offers specialty classroom training, simulation experience, hands-on practice in the clinical environment, and bi-monthly seminars focused on professional growth, evidenced based practices, and leadership. A $10K Sign on Bonus applies to night shift positions only and is paid in two (2) equal installments.

Requirements

• Two (2) years of Cardiac IMCU experience or one (1) year general ICU experience with hemodynamic monitoring and ECCO Course completion.
• Valid BLS and ACLS, from either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
• Graduate of an accredited Registered Professional Nursing program.
• Registered Nurse License (RN LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
• Registered Nurse Compact License (RN LICENSE COMPACT) - Compact RN Multistate
• BLS American Heart E-Card (BLS AHA ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
• BLS American Heart RQI E-Card (BLS AHA-RQI ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
• BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard (BLS AHA) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART)
• BLS Certification Grace (BLS GRACE) - Employee Grace Period for Essential Credential (GRACE)
• BLS Cert Red Cross (BLS RC) - Red Cross (RED CROSS)
• Requires critical thinking skills, effective communications skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• One (1) year of cardiovascular and/or intensive care experience required.

Nice To Haves

• ONCC Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Certificate Required for those RNs administering chemotherapy.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for ICU, ED, PACU, Endo, Tele, OB, MHN Pre-Op and Specialty Procedural areas.
• PALS required for Pediatric areas with the exception of NICU - if RN is coming from a non-pediatric background, they have 30 days from date in position to obtain PALS
• Certification in Fetal Monitoring through National Credential Center or through AWOHNN (Intermediate or Advanced) for L&D RNs.
• Newly licensed RNs have 6 months to obtain ACLS and-or PALS, and Fetal Monitoring, if L&D.

Responsibilities

• Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
• Evaluates learning needs of the patient and family; provides patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including disposition, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
• Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel.
• May precept student nurses and new hires.
