About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Health – Temple offers a program for Professional Advancement Training in Healthcare Specialties (PATHS) for clinical nurses to advance their nursing career. This comprehensive six-month Registered Nurse (RN) Fellowship program aims to facilitate a seamless transition as it enhances your existing nursing competencies, imparting essential knowledge and skills required to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality care within your chosen specialty. The PATHS Fellowship offers specialty area orientation, classroom/didactic lessons, simulation, practice-based learning, mentorship, and professional development.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an Accredited RN Program.
  • 1 Year of RN Experience required at time of application.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire or transfer.

Nice To Haves

  • 18 months of nursing experience.
  • BSN degree.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee patient care using a professional practice model.
  • Conduct patient assessments, recognize health issues, create care plans, and assess patient responses.
  • Secure patient travel.
  • Understand patient needs in healthcare.
  • Help patients and prevent issues.
  • Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.
  • Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs.
  • Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting them to reach desired outcomes.
  • Build relationships, manage discomfort, and stay professional in therapeutic connections with patients and families.
  • Create care plans reflecting values to aid in resolving issues.
  • Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members, empowering them with knowledge for better healthcare choices.
  • Assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Work with colleagues and the community to create a care plan.
  • Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • Use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff.
  • Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, and commit to growth.
  • Contribute to peers' development and show commitment to community service.
