About The Position

The RN Pediatric Float Fellowship-McLane Children's Hospital program is designed for Registered Nurses (RNs) to advance their careers through Professional Advancement Training in Healthcare Specialties (PATHS). This six-month fellowship aims to ease the transition into specialized nursing roles by enhancing existing competencies and providing essential knowledge and skills for safe, high-quality care in NICU, PICU, ED, and MSU. The program includes specialty area orientation, classroom lessons, simulation, practice-based learning, mentorship, and professional development.

Requirements

  • 12 months minimum nursing experience at time of application.
  • Graduated from an accredited program in nursing or have two years of relevant work experience.
  • Two years of experience in nursing is required.
  • Must be a registered nurse.
  • Have basic life support (BLS) certification or get it within 30 days of starting.

Nice To Haves

  • 18 months of nursing experience preferred.
  • BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate patient care based on the nursing model.
  • Assess patients, plan personalized care, and evaluate responses to health issues.
  • Ensure patient safety by understanding their needs and the healthcare setting for smoother transitions.
  • Delegate interventions to team members based on guidelines, patient condition, and team abilities.
  • Make recommendations that impact patient outcomes.
  • Develop and adjust nursing care plans for desired outcomes.
  • Create a safe environment for patients, families, and staff.
  • Assist with emotional and physical pain to aid healing.
  • Incorporate unique perspectives and requirements of patients into care plans.
  • Continuously educate patients, families, staff, and the community.
  • Evaluate and record learning progress.
  • Work with the team and community to implement care plans and delegate tasks.
  • Solve problems efficiently, utilizing resources effectively and acknowledging their limitations.
  • Seek professional development opportunities and contribute to community service.
