About The Position

Powers Health is hiring an RN Fellow for the GI Community Surgery Center (GI CSC) at Community Hospital in Munster, Indiana. The role is part of the Community Hospital Nurse Fellow program, which helps nursing students develop clinical skills. Fellows work under the supervision of the team leader and provide professional nursing care to patients of all ages. The position includes various day shifts and offers tuition assistance for the student’s final year of nursing school. The GI CSC team provides nursing care in a clinical setting that includes GI and endoscopy procedures. The fellow observes and performs nursing functions appropriate to the unit, carries out designated clinical tasks, and supports patients through admission, treatment, teaching, rehabilitation, transfer, and discharge.

Requirements

Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited School of Nursing.
Successfully completed at least one semester of clinical experience that included basic nursing fundamentals in a clinical setting.
Current CPR.

Responsibilities

Observe and perform nursing care functions appropriate to the specific nursing unit under the supervision of the team leader.
Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
Observe diagnostic examinations and special clinical procedures, and assist as directed.
Assist with patient teaching, rehabilitation, and discharge planning activities.
Observe patients’ clinical status, needs, and problems, and communicate observations to the team leader.
Administer treatments and perform clinical tasks designated on the Nurse Fellow Skills Checklist, including assisting the physician with GI/endoscopy procedures.
