About The Position

Tryfacta is seeking a RN - ER NOCS Charge for our client in Arcata CA 95518. This is a 13-week contract assignment. The role involves providing direct nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department, assessing and triaging patients, administering medications and treatments, and responding to emergencies. The Charge RN will coordinate patient care, supervise staff, and manage patient flow during assigned night shifts. Responsibilities also include documentation, ensuring compliance with policies, patient education, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Active and unrestricted California RN license
Minimum 3 years of Emergency Room/ED nursing experience
Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
Strong emergency nursing assessment, triage, and critical-thinking skills
Ability to manage multiple patients and priorities in a fast-paced ED environment
Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
Ability to coordinate and supervise nursing staff during overnight shifts
Proficiency with electronic medical records
Ability to work three 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) and provide holiday coverage
Proof of a negative TB screening within 12 months of the contract start date

Nice To Haves

Previous Charge RN or leadership experience preferred
CPSI/Evident experience preferred

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
Assess, triage, monitor, and prioritize patients based on acuity and clinical needs.
Administer medications, treatments, and interventions according to physician orders and established protocols.
Respond promptly to emergency situations and changes in patient condition.
Serve as the Charge RN during assigned night shifts, coordinating patient care and nursing activities.
Supervise and support ED nursing staff to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
Coordinate patient flow, assignments, admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, ancillary departments, and other healthcare professionals.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the CPSI/Evident EMR.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, emergency department protocols, and patient safety standards.
Provide patient and family education regarding treatment, medications, follow-up care, and discharge instructions.
Assist with maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient Emergency Department environment.
Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives as required.
