About The Position

The BSMC Acute Care RN works in a collaborative and cooperative relationship with other members of the health care team, plans and implements patient and family education, ensures patient safety and is responsible for assessing the needs and initiating appropriate intervention for patients.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Current Montana Licensure (Registered Nurse).
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Current AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or ability to obtain within four (4) months of hire.
  • Current AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course certification, or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.
  • Current Trauma Nursing Care Coordinator certification (TNCC), or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire.
  • Emergency Department, Urgent Care, or other acute care clinical experience
  • Computer ability and knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) operating systems

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course certification (ENPC)

Responsibilities

  • Collects Comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or the situation (Assessment).
  • Analyzes the assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues (Diagnosis).
  • Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or the situation.
  • Develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes (Plan of Care).
  • Implements the identified plan of care.
  • Employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
  • Systematically enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
  • Attains knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice.
  • Evaluates one’s own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules and regulations.
  • Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues.
  • Collaborates with patient, family and others in the conduct of nursing practice.
  • Integrates ethical provisions in all areas of practice.
  • Integrates research findings into practice.
  • Other duties as assigned.
