About The Position

Endoscopy nurses provide care to patients across the age continuum who need diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures. The nurse assists the provider team during procedures, provides patient care before, during, and after procedures, performs procedural sedation, and educates patients about treatment. The position works in a fast-paced environment across multiple units at OHSU Hospital and the Center for Health and Healing (CHH1 and CHH2). Annual hands-on competencies are determined by unit needs, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based factors. These may include moderate sedation administration and monitoring, peripheral IV insertion, motility and pH testing, telephone triage, and procedural patient care. The department is open Monday through Friday, 0700–1730. Mandatory call applies Monday through Friday, 1730–0700, and all day on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. The employee must be able to arrive at work within 30 minutes of being called. Orientation for experienced external nurses includes approximately one week of OHSU and Nursing New Employee Orientation, followed by care-area orientation lasting 3 days to 26 weeks.
